DAY 3 : Christchurch - TranzAlpine Express - Hokitika - Franz Josef

  • Continue the journey to Hokitika (138 km / approximately 1 hour 50 minutes), a charming coastal town renowned for its spectacular sunset viewpoints. Hokitika is also recognized as the center of greenstone (pounamu or Māori jade) craftsmanship, an integral part of Māori culture. According to Māori beliefs, greenstone symbolizes peace, strength, and protection, and is believed to bring power and prosperity to the wearer and their family. The stone is traditionally carved into various forms, each carrying its own symbolic meaning. For example, fish-shaped carvings represent blessings of success, perseverance, and safe passage over water, while twist (koru or double-twist) designs symbolize enduring relationships, friendship, and love.

DAY 4 : Franz Josef - Wanaka - Wanaka Tree - Queenstown

DAY 6 : Arrowtown - Kawarau Bridge - Lindis - Mt. Cook National Park

  • Visit Kawarau Bridge to witness the world-famous bungy jumping activity. Bungy jumping is deeply embedded in New Zealand’s adventure culture and is regarded as one of the ultimate expressions of courage and thrill-seeking spirit. Jumps range from heights of approximately 35 to 134 meters, using strong and elastic latex cords securely attached to the jumper’s body or ankles before leaping from bridges or cliffs.

  • The round-trip distance is approximately 6 kilometers, passing through native shrubs and semi-alpine grasslands before reaching Kea Point Lookout.
